I teach and preach Jesus and the Bible, Genesis to Revelation. I share with you the news so that you can prepare for the days ahead and connect it with the biblical dots. FEMA Launches New Preparedness Training for Community-Based Organizations (OPEN)
FEMA launched a new preparedness training, “Organizations Preparing for Emergency Needs,” or OPEN. The new training is designed to empower Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to prepare for incidents and increase resilience in the face of a disaster. CBOs play a huge role in the daily lives of millions of Americans. They are the food banks, childcare centers, shelters and houses of worship that make communities stronger.
OPEN is both a self-guided online course for individuals and a downloadable instructor-led course designed to help organizations take preparedness steps. The OPEN training will walk participants through ten preparedness actions. CBOs can take these preparedness actions to improve their organization’s resilience.
The 10 preparedness actions are:
- Understand risks
- Mitigate risks
- Identify the people you serve
- Determine essential activities
- Consider the supply chain
- Safeguard critical information
- Establish a communications plan
- Cross-train key individuals
- Formalize plans
- Regularly test and update plans

Dummy Soldiers And Abandoned Battle Tanks: Israel Prepares For War With Hezbollah
Hikers in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights found at least 5 armed and unguarded Merkava Mk. IV battle tanks.
The doors of the battle tanks were open with equipment and munitions left completely unguarded inside. The incident took place amid the growing tensions between Hezbollah and the Israeli Defense Forces in both the Golan Heights area and along the Israeli-Lebanese contact line. Link

A team of researchers found evidence of a new equatorial wind pattern at Antarctica, unveiling a crucial connection between winds at the Earth's equator and atmospheric waves about 10 000 km (6 000 miles) away at the South Pole. The findings highlight how winds in the deep tropics impact the remote South Pole, which can trigger outbreaks of cold weather in mid-latitudes.
The team found evidence of a Quasi-Biennial Oscillation (QBO) -- an atmospheric circulation pattern originating at the equator-- at McMurdo, Antarctica. Link

As COVID-19 swept across the world this year, claiming hundreds of thousands of lives, it quickly became clear that one essential factor for controlling its spread is the ability to rapidly and accurately test for the virus causing it, SARS-CoV-2, as well as the antibodies it produces.
Now, scientists from The University of New Mexico and the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) in Spain have published a new study that they say could contribute to faster and more effective testing for viruses like SARS-CoV-2. Their work, titled "Super- and Subradient Lattice Resonances in Bipartite Nanoparticle Arrays," was published in the journal ACS Nano. Link

For Sale: One of the First and Most Valuable Dollars in U.S. History
You’ll need a lot of pretty pennies to buy it.
On October 15, 1794, Henry Voigt, the Chief Coiner of the United States, hurried nearly 2,000 silver coins to the desk of David Rittenhouse, the Director of the United States Mint. That day marked a milestone in the making of a country: Two years after Alexander Hamilton established the Mint under President George Washington, the first dollars had been minted.
There’s some debate about what happened next. Some experts say there was a ceremony, well-attended by diplomats and representatives. Others say that despite the historic event, it was all business—no hor d’oeuvres, no party. Still others, including the Smithsonian Institution, say that the coinage was destined for the pockets of the aforementioned dignitaries, as a token of the bright future of the fledgling United States.
What’s certain is that now, over 200 Octobers later, one of those dollars will go up for auction. Link

Beginning in 1596, Augsburg art dealer and diplomat Philipp Hainhofer traveled to various courts north of the Alps, trading luxury goods and political insights.
