Space Weather

After flip-flopping like a fish out of solar water activity has calmed to 'normal' but brace yourself, the next wave is supposed to hit us as early as today.

Hurricane Dorian's wind speed intensity and strength were modulated by geomagnetic conditions and induced electric current, creating a solar forcing event.  Ben Davidson, Suspicious Observers

A new typhoon is heading for Tokyo, and blot echo's indicate concern for seismicity, as well.

Mysterious Face in Antarctica

There is nothing like a good mystery, and here is one for you. A mysterious ancient face, much like the one in the Cydonia region, on Mars. The distance between the face and the mouth is 1000 feet. Do your research and fly-overs because it will disappear.

What do you make of this old face?

Government

It appears as though FEMA is expecting significant disasters in 2020 and is requesting funding to deal with them.  Even with this funding, given the convergence of cycles, more and more I am seeing that the federal government is feathering its own nest and you are paying for it.  As the disasters intensify they will gravitate to their triage system and you, my friends, are not part of that, except for photo ops such as we saw with Hurricane Dorian.
    • FEMA - $18.9 Billion
    • CBP - $13.8 Billion
    • TSA - $7.9 Billion
    • U.S. Secret Service - $2.4 Billion
    • Cyber Security - $2.0 Billion

    Dark Money

Rarely, do I venture into the political realm because we are so far down the rabbit hole, what is the point?  But dark money plays a significant part not only in politics, but technology, research, development, and black budget military programs.  This short video provides a concise overview of how it works, no matter the sector.

Twitter Bots Are Becoming More Human-Like: Study

Even as humans are getting better at recognizing bots — social media personas that are just software disguised as people — so these bots are growing more sophisticated and human-like. A new study by researchers at the University of Southern California tracks how — and suggests ramifications for public opinion and the 2020 election.

    Geopolitical

How close is America to the social credit system?  Between biometrics, traffic cams, and social media, we have begun the slippery slope. Imagine your face splashed up on a billboard with your name and identification to shame and humiliate you publicly.  It is a fascinating interview from someone who lives and works in China. Consider this a boot on the ground report for what is occurring in China and coming to your town soon.

    ADAPT 2030

Have you seen barbell corn in your neck of the woods?  It is caused primarily from cold weather during the growing process and secondarily, exposure to glyphosate.  Keep your eyes open because we are going to many more strange things in the days to come.

Color Code: Eat the Rainbow for Vibrant Health

Fruits and vegetables come in a rainbow of colors.  Each hue is nature’s color code to particular nutrients that help your body function at its best.  Here’s how (and why!) to eat the rainbow.

Natural compounds called phytonutrients or phytochemicals are components of plants that are stalwart defenders of health.  Studies show that people who eat more plant foods have reduced risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

Phytonutrients provide many functions in the plant itself, such as protection from pests and environmental stressors, along with imparting color and distinctive tastes and smells.

In the human body, phytonutrients stimulate enzymes that help the body get rid of toxins, boost the immune system, improve cardiovascular health, promote healthy estrogen metabolism, and encourage the death of cancer cells.

Fruits and vegetables are rich sources of phytonutrients, along with whole grains, legumes, herbs, spices, nuts, seeds, and teas.  Phytonutrients in food come in all different colors: green, yellow, orange, red, blue, purple, and white.

    Heavenlies

Researchers from Caltech present a new paradigm for understanding how pressures in planets evolve, Planetary Collisions Can Drop the Internal Pressures in Planets, causing ejecta to be ejected causing new planets or moons.

The impacts, such as the one that is thought to have caused the formation of the earth's moon roughly 4.5 billion years ago, could cause random fluctuations in core and mantle pressures that would explain some puzzling geochemical signatures in Earth’s mantle.  Given the movement of magma and our changing mantle, this is something to keep  watch.

    Earth Changes

A bit dated but valuable information as long as we have access to it is the new ICESat-2.

Polar ice began building at the end of August, way ahead of schedule.  No longer do we need to rely upon the media telling us how the polar regions are warming and melting without verification.  There is some melting during the seasons but for different reasons than the IPCC claims.

    Technology

Facebook is making its own AI deepfakes to head off a 'disinformation disaster.'

Facebook has directed its team of AI researchers to produce a set of in-depth fake videos of actors doing and saying routine things, set to be released at the end of the year.

The idea is that they will help researchers build and refine detection tools. Although such methods exist, they often involved painstaking expert analysis. Tools for catching deepfakes are only just emerging.

Despite all the fears over the use of deepfakes in the political arena, the technology is more likely to become a potent tool of cyber-stalking and bullying in the short term, says Henry Ajder, an analyst at Deeptrace. Read the full story here.

    Medical

The Bible has much to say about the splendor of age and the wisdom that comes with it.  Scientists and researchers are striving to eliminate old age in their quest for longevity and immortality.  There is an individual dignity that comes with being likened to the Ancient of Days that youth can never attain.  Many worries that aging populations will doom the world economy and make life miserable for everyone. Here’s why that’s wrong.

This article was put out by MIT on, Why you shouldn’t fear the gray tsunami.

The aging of the world is happening fast. Americans 65 and older are now 16% of the population and will make up 21% by 2035. At that point, they will outnumber those under 18. In China, the large numbers of people born before the one-baby policy was introduced in 1979 are swelling the ranks of older people, even as younger age groups shrink. Other countries are even older. Japan leads—more than a quarter of its population is 65 or older—but Germany, Italy, Finland, and much of the rest of the European Union aren’t far behind. A quarter of the people in Europe and North America will be 65 or older by 2050.

The financial and emotional hit to older workers unable to find a job because of bias is devastating to families and communities. And it’s a pain caused by our narrow thinking and limited imaginations. Ageism is a particularly pernicious bias because it is a fear of our selves. We’re all going to get old (if we’re lucky) and die.

But while aging might be inevitable, becoming unproductive is not. We might be facing a demographic tsunami, but we don’t have to be overwhelmed by it. We can take the high ground.

Soft Self-Healing Materials for Robots That Cannot Be Destroyed

Image: SHERO Project This robot hand can autonomously heal itself over and over again.

The beast I saw was like a leopard, with the feet of a bear and the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave the beast his power and throne and great authority. One of the heads of the beast appeared to be mortally wounded. But the mortal wound was healed, and the whole world marveled and followed the beast.  They worshiped the dragon who had given authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can wage war against it?”…Revelation 13

The AI technology is here for a mortal wound to the head to be healed, making the Book of Revelation come relevant and on the map than ever before.  Soft self-healing materials for robots have been created that cannot be destroyed!

The European Commission is funding a project called SHERO (Self HEaling soft RObotics) to try and solve at least some of that physical robot breaking problems through the use of structural materials that can autonomously heal themselves over and over again.

SHERO is a three year, €3 million collaboration between Vrije Universiteit Brussel, University of Cambridge, École Supérieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles de la Ville de Paris (ESPCI-Paris), and Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa). As the name SHERO suggests, the goal of the project is to develop soft materials that can completely recover from the kinds of damage that robots are likely to suffer in day to day operations, as well as the occasional more extreme accident.

The entire process is autonomous, allowing robots to self-identify damage and initiate healing on their own.

    How the self-healing material works

What these self-healing materials can do is pretty amazing. The researchers are developing two different types—the first one heals itself when there’s an application of heat, either internally or externally, which gives some control over when and how the healing process starts. For example, if the robot is handling dirty stuff, you’d want to get it cleaned up before healing it so that dirt doesn’t become embedded in the material. This could mean that the robot either takes itself to a heating station, or it could activate some embedded heating mechanism to be more self-sufficient.

The second kind of self-healing material is autonomous, in that it will heal itself at room temperature without any additional input, and is probably more suitable for relatively minor scrapes and cracks. Here are some numbers about how well the healing works:

Autonomous self-healing polymers do not require heat. They can heal damage at room temperature. Developing soft robotic systems from autonomous self-healing polymers excludes the need of additional heating devices… The healing however takes some time. The healing efficiency after 3 days, 7 days and 14 days is respectively 62 percent, 91 percent and 97 percent.

This material was used to develop a healable soft pneumatic hand. Relevant large cuts can be healed entirely without the need of external heat stimulus. Depending on the size of the damage and even more on the location of damage, the healing takes only seconds or up to a week. Damage on locations on the actuator that are subjected to very small stresses during actuation was healed instantaneously. Larger damages, like cutting the actuator completely in half, took 7 days to heal. But even this severe damage could be healed completely without the need of any external stimulus.
