Our troubles began with a complex (wicked) process by which extermination of humanity is to be carried out. It began simply, through the bureaucratic definition of who is a human. Subsequently many names of professions are now being changed; doctors are providers; farmers are producers; and soon humans will be persons. The final step in the process is when humanity is eliminated altogether, hence the Post-Human Era. Throughout the process all sectors of society are required to cooperate with artificial intelligence (AI). Until the 20th century systemic annihilation policies were attempted either for religious conversion or expulsion. Today, we face utter annihilation, the most radical form of expulsion.
Over the past years the news has emphasized mass migrations to deaden our shock and horror when the 'shoe finally drops' and AI has advanced to the degree to usurp man. The migrant purge was the first wave of the soon coming AI onslaught, governments getting rid of citizens they deemed undesirable. These refugees became stateless persons. Stateless people came into being after World War 1. The stateless souls have no rights. Law enforcement has tasted the freedom of dominating classes of men and women unhindered by the judicial process or legal restraint which is increasingly being controlled by AI. We witnessed this with the Bundy Ranch debacle.
Robotics
Forty plus countries develop military robots with some level of autonomy. Impact on society, employment.
To futurists, and those people initially educating the AI system, we are superfluous or the living dead. This is in stark contrast to the biblical concept of the living dead which are biologically alive people but spiritually dead. When one has surplus 'livestock' which drains resources, one gets rid of them. This begs the question, what is civilization?
The 20th century was unparalleled in the sheer number of human beings slaughtered as a consequence of a political agenda. One estimate is that 100 million inflicted deaths occurred, not as a result of plagues or epidemics, but from technology. The bottom line is that our political leaders around the globe made the decision that we are all expendable. The fact of the matter is that the majority of individuals have been incompetent and 'incurably sick' and so AI will grant us a 'mercy death' and Scripture verifies this. Despite the name many will go to their deaths violently and the many through privation.
Robotics of any kind are vulnerable to Cyber and Electromagnetic (EM) disruption. As we all know battery life is to short with anything electronic which poses a challenge to developers. Ethics without man in the loop predestines a precarious fate for humanity.
Robotics will come in all shapes, sizes and model and vary from unmanned to autonomous. They will surround you on the ground, in the air, and subsurface/sea systems. Robotics includes autonomous nano-weapons.
Examples: Hunter/killer Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and swarms.
Artificial Intelligence: Human-Agent Teaming, where humans and intelligent systems work together to achieve either a physical or mental task. The human and the intelligent system will trade-off cognitive and physical loads in a collaborative fashion. Human body machines.
Swarms/Semi Autonomous: Massed, coordinated, fast, collaborative, small, stand-off which .locate, converge, attack, and disperse to Overwhelm target systems. Mass or disaggregate (break into fundamental parts and then self-assemble). These swarms are so fast that a media photo op was almost cancelled because the photographers could not capture the swarm on film. These swarms take natural swarming to the next level. New DARPA SWARM Autonomy solicitations through OFFSET.
Internet of Things (IoT): Trillions of internet linked items create opportunities and vulnerabilities. There will be 50 billion connected devices by 2020. Conservatively that is conservatively, 152,000 devices per minute being connected.
Explosive growth in low Size Weight and Power (SWaP) connected devices (Internet of Battlefield Things), especially for sensor applications (situational awareness). Greater than 100 devices per human. Significant end device processing (sensor analytics, sensor to shooter, supply chain management).
Space: Over 50 nations operate in space, increasingly congested and difficult to monitor, endanger Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT)
GPS Jamming/Spoofing: Increasingly sophisticated, used successfully in Ukraine.
The Era of Contested Equality
This period marked by significant breakthroughs in technology and convergences in terms of capabilities leads to significant changes in the character of warfare. During this period, traditional warfare experiences revolutionary changes. Game changers during this era include:
Rail Guns (Electrodynamic Kinetic Energy Weapons): Electromagnetic projectile launchers. High velocity/energy and space (Mach 5 or higher) or 5600 mph!. Not powered by explosive materials. This system has the capability of shifting energy either kinetic or potential from one system to another system. You have the energy potential if you are able to work. This system will redistribute that energy. It is scalar, abstract, oftentimes cannot be perceived, and is given meaning through calculation.
No Propellant making it easy to store and transport.Lower Cost with Extreme G-force
Limiting factors: Power. Significant IR signature. Materials are nascent science.
Hyper Glide Vehicles: Less susceptible to anti-ballistic missile countermeasures.
Directed Energy Weapons: Signature not visible without technology, must dwell on target. Power requirements currently problematic.
Potential: Tunable to the ionosphere, and can either be lethal or non-lethal.
Laser: Directed energy damages intended target, this is called Precision Targeting. Targets: Counter Aircraft, UAS, Missiles, Projectiles, Sensors, Swarms.
Radio Frequency (RF): Attack targets across the frequency spectrum. Targets: Not just RF; Microwave weapons “cook targets,” people, electronics. Many communication towers were converted to microwave towers over 10 years ago.
Synthetic Biology: Engineering / modification of biological entities
Increased Crop Yield: Potential to reduce food scarcity, but is it food, a drug, or poison?
Weaponization by synthetic biology: Potential for micro-targeting. Think of it as biological profiling of your memories, to DNA, to your cells. Seek and destroy microbes that can target DNA. Nobody knows the long term effects of synthetic biology. Potentially accessible to super-empowered individuals.
Medical Advances: Enhance survivability.
Genetic Modification: Disease resistant, potentially designer babies and super athletes/soldiers. Synthetic DNA stores digital data. Data can be used for micro-targeting.
CRISPR: Genome editing.
Information Environment: Use IoT and sensors to harness the flow of information for situational understanding and decision-making advantage.
Nutrients to counteract some of the Direct Energy Weapons. Most of these oxygenate the brain which is the primary target of DEW but they also oxygenate the rest of the body supplying you with additional stamina. Note that in 2018 many of thee are increasingly disappearing off the market due to the FDA. Growing them yourself is a good option.
Spiritual preparedness is key no matter what direction technology evolves. When you are right with your Creator, all is well for eternity.
