As we deepen into the prophetic times spoken of by Jesus, the Days of Noah, there are things that should come to into our thoughts.  We need to establish firmly in our mind, that even during times of judgment, God always cares for His people and is compassionate.

It should cause us to ponder during our reading of the biblical narrative of the Flood.  It is probably the largest biblical and historical event in history for which there is documentation around the world.  This was an unanticipated event ever for those with fertile imaginations who would be called conspiracy theorists today.

Faith Lesson:  Write down the most startling event that has happened to you that was completely off your radar.  How did it impact your thoughts about God?  How did you recover from this event?

Sin and Consequences

How could it come about that a Supreme Creator, who brought the world into existence according to His Will, and after considering it proclaimed it to be exceedingly good, suddenly decree that it needed to be destroyed?  Could or would His Son Jesus model His Father?  Found in scriptural prophecy we know that the answer is, yes.

Faith Lesson: How do you reconcile God saying everything is good and the Flood?  Write down what in your life is good according to God.  Write down the times you have deviated from God’s Word that you have not repented of.  Write down any evil that you may be engaging in.  Repent now, for none of us is promised another moment.

Permission Granted

We are hereby introduced to the harsh reality of evil and its consequences. Everything is seen, but freedom is granted. The possibility that mankind will self-destruct is embedded into the very fabric of Creation. Free will has been bestowed upon you to determine the course of your existence. This indicates that you can commit the worst atrocities and even convert yourself into a savage beast. Permission is granted, means that the Father nor Jesus, will not intervene to alter your choices, even to save you from a surge towards doomsday.

Faith Lesson: How am I managing the freewill that God has given to me?  Do I need to make corrections?  Have I repented for the times I messed up?  Spend some quiet time with the Lord talking to Him about your free will status.

Graphic Evil

The greatest threat to the world’s existence does not stem from global warming, but from man’s moral corruption. all manner of perversion, sexual deviance, destruction of the societal order at large and even idolatry. All of this evil is called lifney in the Hebrew, or before His face, indicating that which was unbelievably graphic and obvious.  To be filled full is to have ultimate understanding or popularity of a certain thing or event, in this case, evil.  It is mind-boggling that mankind in his arrogance flaunts evil in from of the very eyes of God and Jesus.  It reminds me of one case in the Old Testament when an Israelite fornicated right in front of the Tabernacle and  Pinchas ran them through as they copulated for which he was given a Covenant of Peace and an eternal Priesthood.

God was kept His promise to Pinchas over 850 years later when some of the Jews returned to the Land of Israel after the Babylonian captivity.

Zechariah 6:11-13 (Hag 1:1; 2:2) . The BRANCH (Tzemach in Hebrew), who will build the Temple of God and be a king and priest on God’s throne! “And the counsel of peace shall be between them both.”

This is a clear reference to Jesus the Messiah, whose right to the priesthood transcends the promise to Pinchas – fulfilling it and going beyond – and is fulfilling the promise of God to Messiah, Son of David, the Branch (netzer, shoot, from out of the roots of Jesse) (Isiah 4:2; Jeremiah 23:5-6), that He would be a priest forever [not after Aaron and the tribe of Levi, but] according to the order of Melchizedek (Ps 110:4; Heb 5 & 7), and also King on the throne of David, of the tribe of Judah.  This carries us beyond time and also manifests God’s kingdom of priests over Israel and the nations in time

Faith Lesson: Do I flaunt evil in front of the face of God?  Have I zealously defended Jesus and His Word against all who would tarnish His Holy Name?  Consider that we are now living in a time more wicked than the Days of Noah or even Sodom and Gomorrah.  Will I walk with God, follow His Word, bear testimony of Him in my life during catastrophe, and I have come to the still waters of surrendering my life totally unto Him-even if it means my death?

Eradicating Evil

At a certain point, that may reach the level where G-d will decide that the end of all flesh has come before me. The prophet Jonah’s warnings are more relevant to our times than the ravings of the contemporary “custodians of the planet.”

In Genesis 8:22: It is interesting that the phrase here is as long as the earth exists which some commentators have taken to mean that the earth might not always be here, which Scripture clearly indicates will happen one day:

The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance. But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and its works will be laid bare.  Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to conduct yourselves in holiness and godliness.  II Peter 3:10

Faith Lesson: Am I prepared spiritually and physically for the events of the Tribulation (if I must go through it) and the Day of the Lord when everything will burn up?  What changes do I need to make?

Saddening the Heart of the Father and Jesus

When we consider the account of the Flood, we must pay careful attention to certain challenging phrases. Genesis 6:6 states that God regretted that He had made man in the earth and He was saddened to His heart.

We must be very careful in reading anthropomorphic descriptions of God, to avoid taking them literally, as that can lead us to false notions about Him. God does not partake of any physicality although His Son Jesus did partake a body of flesh for a period for His Father’s purposes. We must not imagine that God has emotions, or capriciously acts in a certain way, because of the influence of any feelings.

We need to remember that “the Bible speaks in the language of man.” It describes God’s actions as we would understand them in the context of human life. Thus, when He metes out severe punishment to evildoers, He is depicted as angry, although He is not. But that is how we would describe a human ruler who performed similar actions.  God is beyond comprehension or emotion when He metes out judgment.

We must believe that the destruction wrought by the Flood was a result of absolute justice and did not precipitate any Divine unhappiness or moodiness. What is the Bible’s purpose in telling us that G-d was saddened to His heart?

The message in this verse was essential for mankind’s continued well-being after the Flood. That is because the devastation visited upon the Creation would strike the ordinary person as an expression of sheer vengeance and a sign that G-d has abandoned the Earth. The impression that God or His Son Jesus doesn’t care about human existence would have a catastrophic impact upon man’s sense of self-esteem.

I think about the time that Jesus wept over the death of his friend Lazarus.  In everyday terms, I ponder the sad fact, that I must cull my roosters. I really do not desire to cull but I must to protect the flock.

Faith Lesson: As the End Days deepen and the waves of judgment roll over me and my loved one how will I feel about God and Jesus at catastrophe hits round about me?  Develop a way or memorize bible verses that brings God and Jesus view of the disaster.  Refrain from becoming tunnel visioned only considering your point of view.

Fulfilling Your Mission

In order to strive walk with Jesus and fulfill your mission, you need to know with confidence that you can stand in God’s and Jesus presence see approval. This can be seen in the confession of Cain, who lamented, See, You have expelled me today from the face of the Earth and I will be hidden from Your countenance.  We see many times and biblical references to God hiding His face.  I truly believe that God will be hiding His face during the judgments of the End Days.

Were you to believe that God and Jesus deemed your life to be meaningless and without value, you would lose all motivation to improve yourself. By telling us that God was saddened, the Bible communicates to you that the Flood was necessary, but absolutely contrary to God’s true desire that man should live up to his or her moral potential.

Faith Lesson: Do I see the Fathers and Jesus approval in my life?  Can I stand in the presence of God and Jesus with confidence knowing that I am covered by the Blood of the Lamb?  What actions do I need to take to be ready for when God hides His face in my life?  Do I know my life mission?  Do I humbly bow and submit to the refiners fire knowing that it is for my own good, that I might be a spotless bridge for the Wedding Supper of the Lamb?

Genuine Relationship with Jesus

We must always remember that God the Father and Jesus wants us to seek out a genuine relationship with Him, and that when we search for Him in truth, He is there, waiting to receive us with love.
